About the RPG Maker MV Save Editor
This tool allows you to safely edit save files from games made with RPG Maker MV. Unlike a generic hex editor, this tool understands the specific structure of .rpgsave files. It automatically handles the complex decoding, decompression, and parsing, presenting you with a simple interface to change common values.
Your privacy is the top priority. All file processing happens entirely on your computer within your browser. Your save files are never uploaded to any server. This client-side approach ensures your data is secure and makes the editing process incredibly fast. You can easily modify your gold, items, character stats, and game variables without needing to understand the technical details of the save format.
How to Use This Editor
- Locate Your Save File: Find your game's 'save' folder. Inside, you'll see files like `file1.rpgsave`, `file2.rpgsave`, etc.
- Upload the File: Click the upload area or drag and drop the `.rpgsave` file you want to edit.
- Modify the Values: The editor will show categories like Gold, Items, and Actors. Click on a category to expand it and change the values in the input fields.
- Download Your Edited File: After making your changes, click the "Download Modified Save File" button.
- Replace the Old File: Rename the downloaded file to match the original (e.g., `file1.rpgsave`) and replace the old file in your game's save folder. Be sure to back up the original first!
Tips for Safe Editing
- Always Backup First! This is the most important rule. Before overwriting your original save, make a copy of it and store it somewhere safe.
- Be Sensible with Numbers: While you can give yourself 999,999,999 gold, some games might glitch or display it incorrectly if the number is too high. The maximum for most items is often 99.
- Editing Variables: Game variables are often used to track quest progress. Changing them can advance or break quests, so edit them with caution unless you know what you're doing.
- Actor IDs: The editor lists actors by their ID number (e.g., Actor 1, Actor 2). This ID corresponds to their order in the game's database.
